I am currently a third year Engineering student studying a Mechatronics major with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. I started robotics in year ten at school, building from the old RCX kit. By the end of high school I had started building custom soccer robots for Robocup and had competed internationally in America (2007). It was at this competition that I realized I wanted to keep building robots after school. Since gradating in 2008 I have tutored students from year 6-12 in robotics. Many of these students I have taken to an international level, competing at Robocup in Singapore (2010) and Turkey (2011). Whilst at university I hope to make it to one of these competitions again but as a senior division competitor.

I have just graduated from a Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering and a Bachelor of Information Technology dual degree and am very excited about starting a PhD this year in improving sleeping disorder diagnostics tools for children. Since a very small child I have been pulling apart devices to see how they worked and programming anything that I could, and so robotics was a natural progression for me. I have been tutoring people in robotics for 3 years now, from school children in grades 5-12 to university level. I find that giving children the opportunity to learn something that they otherwise would not be able to is very rewarding.

Unlike many of my fellow Robogals, my background is not in robotics, but in Artificial Intelligence. I may not know much about the hardware (though I do like playing with Lego), but I love to play around with robots' brains. I am a keen scientist who dreams of being able to converse naturally with computers and robots. I am currently pursuing research in computational linguistics, as the many years I spent getting a Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts (majoring in Linguistics and Ancient History/History) only increased my appetite for learning! I am also a Girl Guide leader and love helping girls and young people learn and empower themselves.

I am currently a second year student studying a dual degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Science. I got my first electronic lego motor when I was 9 and have been interested in electronics ever since. I have always liked finding out how things work, and improving them if possible. I am pushing myself towards making prosthesis for humans because the human body is an amazing machine and it is a challenge to understand and fix.
